COMEDY FUNDRAISER WILL RAISE FUNDS FOR SANCTUARY
West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton, Rhode Island, will host a night of comedy to raise funds Saturday, Oct. 6.
The show, at West Warwick Elks Lodge, 60 Clyde St., West Warwick, Rhode Island, will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Funny4Funds will host New England comedians at the event in support of animals in need.
West Place is a nonprofit founded by Executive Director Wendy Taylor in 2007 to provide housing, food and medical care for injured and orphaned wild waterfowl and wild game birds as well as farm animals and elderly horses that are victims of cruelty and neglect, furnishing both short-term and long-term care.
In the decade since its incorporation, West Place has helped hundreds of wildlife and dozens of farm animals each year to get a second chance at life, according to a news release.
Located on an 8-acre historic farm property (the Dr. Samuel West Place) and surrounded by 700 acres of preserve old-growth woodlands and pastures, West Place is “ideally situated” in rural Tiverton, according to a news release.
West Place animals participate in educational programs and community service activities, events and projects. “These civic engagement opportunities help us educate the public about animal care, and about injured, disabled or abused animals and their abilities to recover, adapt and thrive either in the wild or in the care of animal welfare organizations like ours,” West Place said.
The show, for people 18 and older, will feature raffle items, a 50/50 drawing, silent and live auctions, a cash bar and pub food. Doors open at 6 and the show stars at 7.
Tickets are $25 and available at funny4funds.com/events, along with donation and sponsorship opportunities. For $100, West Place will feature a business on the show Facebook page, at the door, on all tables and on a banner behind the stage.
Products for auction items can be offered by calling 401-228-6800.
