Saving Tiverton's Historic Farmland
Property and Land Acquisition
For two decades, West Place has grown steadily and our organization is now at an inflection point. We have a once-in-a-lifetime property acquisition opportunity that will conserve farmland, preserve American history, and honor the agrarian roots and culture of the "Farm Coast" of New England for generations to come.

The neighboring 36 acres are now up for sale for the first time in more than half a century. The property includes farmland, forest, and several usable farm buildings. It was also the site of the historic Abraham Brown House, commonly called "The Lafayette House," until it was demolished without warning on December 18, 2024. Built in 1760, the home played a role in the American Revolution when it housed the Marquis de Lafayette during the 1778 Battle of Rhode Island.

It's not too late to save the property and preserve the historic farmland.

West Place has created a business plan that utilizes the land to benefit the community and our life-saving farm animal rescue work. This is a monumental moment and we're going all in!

We are urgently seeking generous donors and philanthropists who are passionate about land conservation, American history and historic preservation, community and cultural heritage, humane education, and/or animal welfare. With your support, we can save this land before it is gone.
