Celebrate a season of kindness and compassion at West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28–29, when the Sanctuary's Holiday Shop & Stroll returns. Located on the historic 150-year-old Dr. Samuel West farm and homestead, the Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and responsibly cares for abused and neglected farm animals, ranging from horses and pigs to alpacas and emus.

Educational and interactive tours of this historic farm property leave every 30 minutes, providing the opportunity to get up close and personal with the amazing animals while learning their stories of resilience and redemption. You'll discover little-known facts about the animals (and determine for yourself who is naughty and who's been nice this year. Spoiler: they're all nice!).

Be sure to leave time to explore the West Place Gift Shop. You'll find a wide variety of handmade crafts created by talented volunteers, and animal-themed gifts covering every holiday shopping list. New items are constantly being added, including unique artwork and regional items to make your home merry and bright. The Holiday Shop & Stroll is West Place's last public visitors' weekend of the year, so don't miss this holiday tradition on the Farm Coast of New England.

All proceeds benefit the care of the animals. Independent of the event and celebrating the West Farm and Homestead's 150th year, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo presented West Place founder and Executive Director Wendy Taylor with a Certificate of Special Recognition, honoring its 18 years as an animal sanctuary. This year it is also a finalist for the Defenders of Wildlife Conservation Award, a nationwide competition among nonprofits.
