Spring Visitors Weekend at West Place Animal Sanctuary kicks off the touring season at the sanctuary. It will take place on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Spending a gorgeous spring day meeting rescued farm animals at a sanctuary is something everyone will remember — even the animals. This is their home, but they love visitors!
One by one, hear the stories of how the animals ended up at the sanctuary in the first place — which for most, will be their forever home. Some of the stories are heartbreaking, but it makes the nudge from a happy, excited miniature donkey named Charles even more memorable — for both visitors and Charles.
Along the way expect to meet Pickles the youngest and most dramatic of the four pigs at the sanctuary, Daisy the goat (also known as an escape artist), Clover the emu (who loves her summer baths), Diane the pig who demands belly rubs, and Sadie the goat who is a social butterfly — just to name a few.
Visitors will also meet a new friend, Alfie the baby emu who is both cute and hilarious. Learn about his journey to West Place, why Alfie arrived there, and what the future holds for him
The magic of the sanctuary is that it is truly for the animals. All the proceeds from the tickets will go to making things better for them at the sanctuary, which typically runs at full capacity.
The 90-minute guided walking tours for this event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day and are both interactive and educational. There will also be special driving tours each day at 4 p.m. for those needing assistance traveling around the sanctuary. Tours will sell out fast! If these dates sell out, look for future dates to come on the West Place Animal Sanctuary's website.
Note: All proceeds benefit the animals of West Place Animal Sanctuary.
