TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The West Place Animal Sanctuary is open to the public this weekend for one of its visitors weekends.

The private, non-profit sanctuary hosts three weekends that allow the public to interact with the animals at the sanctuary and take part in guided tours around the farm.

The sanctuary’s mission is to "provide a permanent home and lifelong care to farm animals rescued from abuse, neglect, and cruelty cases."

Animal care volunteer Andrea Souza said that visitors can expect to take part in animal interactions when they visit, including feeding goats and alpacas and seeing the sanctuary's new baby cow who was rescued in August.

"I just love being here with them and seeing them thrive," Souza said.

She added that a donation is required to take part in the visits and that all proceeds go towards care of the animals.

The visitors weekend runs through 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. More information can be found on the sanctuary's website.
