UPI - An animal sanctuary in Rhode Island threw a party to celebrate an unusual milestone: a rescued duck's 17th birthday.

The Rhode Show - Erna is a crested pekin who just turned 17 years old at West Place Animal Sanctuary.

One of the first residents of a Tiverton animal sanctuary celebrated her 17th birthday on Sunday.

Since opening 15 years ago, West Place has filled a void by rescuing farm animals from severe cases of abuse, neglect and cruelty.
